I'm not too clear on this project but I have a Portfolio in progress and hope to edit some current papers that have recently been completed. In addition I hope to add my Alaska History Essays from this semester to the package I have which currently fills a 3"- 3 ring binder. I also want to spend time beginning to adjust my websites into something that I can more easily maintain in the near future. This part of the project will have me studying several programming languages and learning new applications. In addition I am working towards my MOS Certification in Excel.
My main concerns with this post:
- Am I defining my semester long goal?
- Am I choosing to create a term paper on a specific topic?
- Was this item even supposed to be blogged?
Once I have the answers to these questions I'll know what I need to accomplish.

Sue, either the portfolio project or the web collection project could satisfy the assignment, depending on how handled.
Since the web project involves learning some languges I would rule that one out, because the project needs to have greater focus and immediate endpoint.
I suggest you focus on the following for the portfolio:
1. Create a short table of "chapters" that will overview the contents.
2. Where contents are already detailed, or planned, fill in the short table of contents by listing the contents of those chapters in more detail.
Now you have two tables as products, the first will be the first tab with a page or two. The second will be the second tab, with any number of pages (say, 2-3 pages). (Both of these sections might be changed as the project matures in future quarters.)
Next you should consider which components will be needed in the near future: for example - a professional career section: with resume, vita, letter of self introduction or professional purpose (or several such letters if you have several projects in mind). The professional career section might also include a list of potential business partners or employers, and applicable useful websites. You could list the specifics of your web site development as a business objective entry in this area of the portfolio, as a planning element only.
Examining the table of chapters and table of contents, along with the professional section, will help you decide what additional sections will be useful for the portfolio in the future.
If you choose this project, the portfolio will be for your use only, from which you select items as you prepare packages for business proposals or employment applications.
Hope this helps - the professional section would be your main focus for now, and the rest you can develop on your own in future quarters and in years after graduation.
To summarize: the project can be developing the binder, but with the ILA focus on the professional section - writing a few useful documents that you can use in the future.
